Hello, and welcome to Books That Bloom!
I’m Ellie, I’m 19 years old and a self-confessed book worm, I suppose that kind of goes without saying when you have an entire blog dedicated to books. About a year ago, I was in the middle of frantically applying to universities to study English literature, when my A level results came through and I realised I hadn’t done as well as I was hoping – or expecting – I panicked and deferred my place at university for a year (a lot of my big life decisions have been made mid-panic, it’s not the best method but I’m working on it). Job opportunities are scarce in my town and most of my friends have moved halfway across the country to study. So, here I am. Starting this blog, partly to fill all the spare time I’m not used to having and partly because I’m never happier than when I’m talking about books (and also so I don’t have to constantly annoy friends and family by going on and ON about books).
Writing is a great love of mine but writing about myself is another story. I’m not that interesting, really (although as you can see I’m a great salesperson…). All it takes to make me happy is a good boxset – anything starring David Tennant will suffice – a Taylor Swift album, a good book and an endless supply of cheesy pasta. Although maybe not all at once!
As well as this blog, I’m also in the process of writing my first novel. So far, it’s not quite the breezy, therapeutic process my younger self imagined it would be but I’m determined to finish. I owe it to seven-year-old Ellie!
This blog is still in its very early days so I’m still in the process of figuring everything out, what I want to include and where I see the blog going. For now, I’m just going to see what happens…
